Perturbed over the presence of saboteurs, fake consultants and contract papers in Nasarawa state after the payment of N40bn debt inherited by his predecessors, The state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has challenged all top Government functionaries derailing the development of the 19 years old state to change.

The Governor stated this during a meeting with creme de la creme from all strata of Government tagged; “State of the Union Address “The Governor expressed shock over the state of collapsed of Government institutions when he assumed office on 29/05/2011 as the third elected Governor of Nasarawa State.

” After the payment of N40bn debt I though I have a relief, but we suddenly discover fake contract papers followed by courts Judgements, The Governor pointed accusing fingers on people within his Government sabotaging the state, What have you people brought to the state if not destruction.”

Al-Makura expressed dismay over the existence of fake consultants increasing from 2011-2013, adding that the fake consultants has been engaged for many years, he lampooned stakeholders in the state which include both serving and former appointees ranging from commissioner, advisers to have a rethink over the condition of public infrastructures.

Other collapsed sector , according to Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura also includes Road construction, power sector and water supply, On the blackout experienced in some parts of the state, he said the facilities that have existed from 1978-2011, still exist without due attention to improve them, Al-Makura further stated that only two communities in the state have access to potable drinking water.

He lamented the way and manner he met infrastructures in the state, he listed some of the projects to include Zimbabwe Farmers conceived by his predecessor,Aliyu Akwe Doma,Other projects abandoned are Intercity road, Panda-Gitata road also initiated by Akwe Doma.

“But our sole aim was to ensure Good Governance as well to be an all inclusive Government, Is this the Nasarawa state we agitated for ? A Government that we will grab this, grab that and leave the state in shambles instead of adding value to the affairs of the state.

The Governor further berated stakeholders for the snail movement of the state while comparing Nasarawa state with her counterpart created the same date in times of basic social amenities, Al-Makura attributed the strike embarked by the organized labour in the state to the influence of political adversaries.
