The Special Adviser to Nasarawa State Governor on Rural Development, Honorable Mustapha Yahaya Idris has commended Nigerians on the 68th anniversary of the country as well hail the founding fathers of the 28-year-old Nasarawa State.
Yahaya Idris described the 28-year Journey of Nasarawa State as a fruitful voyage with remarkable achievements recorded.
The creation of Nasarawa State from the defunct Plateau State gives the people of Lower Plateau State a sense of belonging by bringing the Government closer to the people.
He reeled out some of the feats recorded to the establishment of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, College of Nursing Science, Lafia, Federal University of Lafia, 4 Comand Army Barracks, Doma, The Isa Mustapha Agwai I, Polytechnic,.Lafia.
Other strings of successes recorded also included the Lafia University Teaching Hospital, The Permanent Site of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Office of the National Examination Council, and The West Africa Examination Council.
The establishment of Federal High, Lafia, The Federal College of Education (Technical) Keana, Adding that all the existing institutions provided a rare opportunity to the teeming youth by creating Job.
“Besides, We have our own three Senators, five House of Representatives as well as twenty-four members of the State House of Assembly “.
He further opined that,” The State capital Lafia can boost of flyover and underpass and also the dualization of Total-Government House-Shendam road, The State Secretariat as well the creation of more ministries.
Describing the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule as a committed and dedicated Governor, He also revealed that the State Governor awarded contract for the construction of flyover at Akwanga as a rare opportunity to decongest one of the fastest-growing Local Governments.
He said in the then Plateau State, lower Benue which is now, Nasarawa State has more graded chiefs as well more chiefdoms were created.
Honorable Mustapha Yahaya Idris hailed the founding fathers of the 28 years State, Saying more media outfits were established such as the State-owned Nasarawa State Broadcasting Service, Breeze F. M, Maloney F. M, Option F. M and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
He also listed the coming of the Olam rice farm in Rukubi community of Doma Local Government as a great achievement, adding that other salient achievements of the Olam rice farm include job creation.
He further opined that the coming of the Olam rice farm has come a long way in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the State.
Other remarkable feat recorded in the State in the last 28 years old State was the intermittent distribution of improved seedlings to farmers in the State.
The SSA on Community Development appealed to people of the State especially farmers and herders to eschew peace at all times, describing peace as a catalyst for even, prudent, and rapid development of every nation.
He also applauded former and present Governor of the State for creating an enabling atmosphere for business to thrive, He commended the incumbent Governor of the State, Abdullahi Sule for keeping the tempo by adopting the Community Based and Conflict Resolution Approach to nip insecurity by the bud.
The one-time Commissioner for Rural Development lauded the holistic measure of the Joint Security Task Force for their resilience and doggedness in ensuring a peaceful State.
Calling on all and sundry to always pray for leaders instead of castigating them, Saying leadership is a herculean task bestowed on choosing ones.
