Yakubu Busari
The political rascality and dastardly promotion of blackmailed witnessed in the first and the second republic the northern minority had continued to witnessed internal banditry ,kidnapping ,farmers /herders clashes and constant land grabbing anytime we returned to democracy .
The radicalism that beclouded our sense of humour with tears ,i carefully take a look at the political situation in Nigeria, specifically focusing on intolerance and the potential for blackmail.
Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Northern Nigeria is home to a wide range of ethnic and religious groups, and historical tensions can sometimes fuel intolerance.
The Socioeconomic Factors: Poverty, inequality, and competition for resources can exacerbate intolerance.
The Role of Religion: Religious beliefs and practices play a significant role in the lives of many people in Northern Nigeria, and religious differences sometimes lead to exploitation towards promoting intolerance.
The Influence of Political Leaders: The actions and rhetoric of political leaders can either promote tolerance or fuel intolerance.
Since 1978 the North has continued to see erosion of social Cohesion:our Intolerance had create divisions within communities based on religious, ethnic, or political differences. This lead to mistrust, suspicion, and a breakdown of the bonds that hold us together.
The Northern minorities group witness increased conflict and violence,we saw that some groups are intolerant of each other, disagreements escalate into conflict today were foreigners are recruited to come and killed ,maim and wreck havoc to fellow citizens . This can range from verbal altercations to physical violence and even communal clashes.
About 26 years into politicking the north is facing stunted economic development our intolerance had discourage investment, tourism, and economic activity. As the investors feel unsafe or discriminated against by law of the land , they may be less likely to start businesses or participate fully in the economy.
Besides, weakening of democratic institutions, our intolerance has undermined the principles of democracy, such as freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the right to participate in political processes. It has also lead to the suppression of dissent and the marginalization of certain groups.
In some parts of the states , misinformation and propaganda, built intolerance often thrives on the spread of falsehood or misleading information about other groups by religious leaders . This further fuel prejudice and hatred to our national cohesion .
We understand that political intolerance continue to manifest in various ways, such as discrimination, hate speech, and violence, and often leads to serious consequences with blackmail, which involves using threats to extort someone, is also a serious issue.
Ah, the impact of intolerance on society and individuals, specifically in Northern Nigeria. That’s a very important and complex .
Let’s break down some of the potential consequences of intolerance in that context:
Our fear and anxiety, from individuals who belong to marginalized groups may live in fear of discrimination, violence, or harassment. This lead to chronic stress and anxiety and untimely dead .
Over the years ,there are loss of our due to intolerance and discrimination in areas like employment, education, and access to healthcare. This limit individuals’ potential and contribute to poverty and inequality in Nigeria .
The psychological trauma by the victims of intolerance, especially those that experience hate speech or violence, suffered from psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder with widespread of mentally derailed persons on major streets walking bare footed .
However,in the North some individuals hide their true identities or beliefs to avoid being targeted by intolerance which had lead to a sense of alienation and a loss of self-esteem.
Social Isolation:we saw individuals being ostracized or excluded from social circles and community activities owning to the present challenges of Government don’t care attitude or deliberate act .
Remember, this is a multifaceted issue. I don’t want to delve deeper into any of these points, or explore specific examples or related issues in Northern Nigeria? I’m here to continued to promote unity of oneness.
What happened today in Danmusa, Katsina State, was not a peace dialogue, it was not reconciliation, it was a negotiation with terror. A surrender of the Nigerian state. A betrayal signed in silence, sealed with shame, and witnessed by soldiers.
Ado Aleru, a name that echoes through the valleys of Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina as a butcher, a bandit, a destroyer of villages, sat like a king. Surrounded by military personnel, community leaders, and traditional rulers, he spoke not from a place of regret, but of power. Of pride.
He told us: As long as you keep calling us terrorists, we will keep acting like terrorists. And no one objected. No one stood up.
No soldier raised a weapon. No official raised their voice. The only thing that was raised… was a terrorist’s confidence.
Ado Aleru was not arrested… He was respected… He wasn’t interrogated… He was invited… He wasn’t hidden in a cave.
He was welcomed like a guest of honor, in the very state where blood still stains the soil from the horrors he and his men unleashed.
Tell me: What kind of country negotiates with men who burn children in their sleep? What kind of army stands still while death gives a speech?
This is not just a national disgrace, it is the collapse of every moral wall holding this country together.
To the Nigerian government:
You did not just negotiate with terror. You empowered it. You legitimized it. You gave it a face. A voice. A stage. And the people watched in shock, in silence, in sorrow.
How do you explain to grieving mothers that their sons’ killers now sit in peace talks?
How do you face a country that’s bleeding from the North, cracking in the South, and say, “We are in control”?
You are not in control. You’re lier’s. Terrorists are controlling us, because, they are your political weapons.
To the Nigerian military:
Where was your honor?
Where was the courage you swore to wear in your uniforms?
