The Festival Executive Director, Henry Samson Mafulul, has said, the Rock International Film Festival (RIFF) maiden edition of a 4-day annual human rights film festival is scheduled to take place in Jos-Nigeria every November.

He advocated for how the festival can promote peace and good governance and improve the well-being of girls, women, and human rights.

Mafulul stated this during a world press conference held at  AFIC Motel, the venue for Rock Int’l Film Festival- RIFF 2022

According to him, this RIFF edition comes up from the 3rd – 6th November 2022, 9 am–4 pm daily at the FOX HOTELS JOS. On the 6th is an Awards Night to close the festival, it starts at 4 pm. Film participation will include both local and international screenings of short, feature & documentary Human Rights Films; and we will have a discussion/conversation and Q&A session around the Human Rights issues these films will address.

Mafulul disclosed that the  RIFF particularly extended special opportunities to a few young filmmakers whose films address social and human rights issues.

The following are the Festival organizing committee Mr. Ezekiel Bok, Rev. Treasure Amber, Ms Janet Faden, Mr Oladele David…..

Henry Samson added that the major objective is to use this platform to educate and sensitize the youths (students and young adults who make up more than half of the population of Jos) on basic human rights and abuses; to create awareness of the importance of a strong and lively civil society that advocates for civil and political rights; to inspire activism and campaign, and positive public debate amongst these youths which would birth action on human rights issues and abuses.
