The People’s Democratic Party, National Youth Empowerment Strategy (PDP-NYES), has charged President Muhammadu Buhari, to consider revoking the privatization of Electricity distribution companies (DISCOS).

The group National coordinator, Hon. Kabiru Sani Garkuwa, in his Press statement disclosed that Nigerians has suffered enough under privatization of electricity as atrocity.

He tasked the President in a press release, saying, “disturbed by the epileptic supply of energy by distribution companies in Nigeria, and in particular the Jos disco, calls for Concern.”

He said the PDP-led administration saw reasons on why the Discos should be privatize, which it did in good faith hoping that things will get well with Nigerians, but years after it is becoming worst.

“We have observed with great concern how the Jos electricity distribution company (JEDC), has not been able to supply energy to its customers and yet it goes about charging citizens with estimated bills,” the group said.

It further said while citizens are still battling with economic hardship,  struggling to get what to eat, the President needs to swiftly intervene, the Minister of power should intervene, the National electricity regulatory commission (NERC), should also intervene.

“The JEDC has embark on installation of substandard prepaid meters, on residence and also replacing the already installed standard prepaid meters, by defunct PHCN, with their substandard ones,  which customers are subjected to paying seven thousand Naira within two weeks calls for concern” it said.

The group called on the Federal Government to, “without delay revoke the privatized distribution of the energy to citizens.”
