Rev. Tanko’s Daughter Cries Out, Appeal To Defense Headquarters, Bishop Kukah, Falana, Others To Intervene

…Begs for the immediate release of her father, says he is dying.

The daughter of  Rev. Bulus  Tanko Barnabas, who is alleged to have been illegally court-martialled by the Nigerian Air Force for allegedly training  Christian youth, raised concerns by calling on global leaders to save her father from incarceration.

Miss Diana Tanko made the passionate appeal to the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Legal Aid Council, Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Paul Enenche, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kuka, Apostle Johnson Suleman, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Barr. Femi Falana for them to come in and release her father, who is now critically sick.

The Daughter spoke in an interview with journalists, decried the health conditions of her father at the correctional centre in Jos.

She cried out over the alleged injustice and unlawful detention of her father, Warrant Officer Tanko Barnabas, in Jos, Nigeria.

Miss Daina Tanko Barnabas, whose father, Rev. Tanko Barnabas, a former serviceman, is currently serving a 12-year sentence in prison, following what she described as a gross miscarriage of military justice.

However, her father was a member of a Christian mission training within the barracks (chapel) to develop and educate Christians on the dangers of Counter terrorism, self-defense mechanisms, peace, Security, and security information management before he was invited to the defense headquarters. 

Miss Diana lamented that her father’s properties were confiscated, including his car and personal belongings. He was dismissed from military service without any entitlement or benefit to his family. They are suffering, passing through untold hardship, as his court-martial didn’t follow proper legal representation or a transparent investigation.

She raised concerns that her father’s personal belongings, including those of the children, were also scattered as a result.

However, Miss Daina Barnabas relocated to survive in harsh Lagos, struggling to make a living,  as her father was court-martialed under questionable conditions, without due process

“It has been four years now since I last set my eyes on my father,” Daina said, her voice trembling.

 “His health is deteriorating, and I fear he may die in that prison. He was not fairly tried. He is not a criminal. He served this country faithfully, yet today he suffers in silence and in isolation.

My father is dying, please help!” This passionate appeal has been sent to relevant authorities, including: Nigerian Armed Forces, The Ministry of Defence, The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Paul Enenche, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kuka, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, and Barr.
