Residents Of Plateau Benefit From District 9125 Rotary Club

300px-District9125bannerAbout hundreds of residents of Jos North and Jos South local government areas of Plateau State have benefited from free healthcare services courtesy of Rotary clubs in Plateau State in collaboration with District 9125, Nigeria.

The District-wide free health services tagged Rotary Family Health Days saw residents getting diagnostic services in HIV testing and counseling, eye cataract test and treatment, polio immunization, family counseling, condom promotion and distribution.

Others included cervical cancer screening, malaria screening and treatment, breast cancer, diabetes and glucose level check, de -worming of children and adults, prostate cancer screening and blood pressure check.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the flag-off ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Pharm. Abel Gwatau commended the Rotary Clubs for the gesture noting that the State Government places premium on health issues and will partner with credible groups to deliver quality services to the people.

He said, “Healthcare delivery is a team work, we are in the era where Government is sensitive to the needs of the people. We place high premium on health issues, our doors are open for credible partnership in the provision of healthcare services. Beneficiaries of the services should mobilize neighbours to come and benefit from the free services.”

Earlier, the Coordinator of services, Rotarian Arthur Ophiohonren disclosed that the event will last for three days in the two councils and the aim is to assist in providing healthcare services to communities and urged parents to avail themselves and their children for the services.

He stressed that “health is wealth and the services are free of charge” hence residents should take the opportunity to know their health status so that they can take care of themselves properly.
