Rector Nasarawa Polytechnic  Reads Riot Act To Matriculating Students, Tells Them To Shun Destruction Of School Properties

The rector of the Nasarawa state Polytechnic, Lafia has cautioned matriculating students of the institution to shun destruction of school property, the Rector, Dr. Silas Gyar stated this at the 16th matriculation/Orientation of the institution.

The rector said stiff penalty await any student caught in the act,the head of the institution tasked the matriculants to shun pilfering or willful damage of Polytechnic property, whether in the classroom, laboratories or library.

Gyar buttressed that the management of the Polytechnic would not condoned the destruction of school property by students because of the extreme negative impact on the learning process, adding that the full force of the Polytechnic rules and regulations will be brought to bear on any perpetrators of the unacceptable acts of destruction and theft.

The rector read riot act to cultism, advising them to denounce such membership of fraternity as he said student associated with cultism shall be expelled and handed over to police.

The Deputy rector, Ali Gabu who represented the rector during the matriculation tasked students on hard work and dedication to studies, he congratulated the matriculants, describing the matriculation/Orientation as a significant rite of passage in the life of every student in tertiary institutions across the globe.

Silas Gyar in an interview with selected Journalists shortly after the matriculation /Orientation in his office commended the state governor for the numerous support accorded to the institution since his assumption of in 2011,he listed the support to include the building of two hostel accommodation which said would be commission soon.

The rector also commended the state governor for compensating land owners of 2000 hectares of land mounting to huge amount of money for the development of permanent site of the institution.

“The state government secured over 2000 hectares of land by compensating land owners, this singular gesture has now secured enough land space for development of infrastructure for the development of the Polytechnic”.

“The entire Polytechnic sees this as unusual demonstration of His Excellency’s avowed commitment to the development of not only Nasarawa State Polytechnic but of education in the entire state”.

Dr.Silas Gyar averred that the concerted approach of governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was meant to putting Nasarawa State Polytechnic on the true pedestal of a modern technological institution, attesting that the monumental stride of the state government would go down as indelible impression in the annals of the development of the institution.

A total of 1,498 students were matriculated in the 16th matriculation ceremony, the matriculants range from Higher National Diploma students in Computer Science, National Diploma.

“75 are for HND 1, while 1,423 are for ND 1 respectively, the rector applauded lecturers and non-academic staff of the Polytechnic for the bumper achievement recorded by the institution.
