Re: Immigration Service To Reinstate 2000 Sacked Personnel

As I was going through the weeklytrust newspaper dated 15th June, 2016, my attention was drawn by one of the captions titled “The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Mohammad Babandede has promised to reinstate the 2000 dismissed recruits after being laid off almost a year ago”. This made me write to complain and to draw his attention against the recent action taken by the federal Executive Council over the cancellation of the 2014 disastrous Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment where scores of people died.

Surely, the former President Goodluck Jonathan directed ALL those who were injured in the cause of the exercise across the country would be given automatic recruitment into the service. While for the families of those who lost their dear ones, three (3) spaces should be provided for three young people one of which must be a woman in the new recruitment exercise.

But to the victims of Bauchi state the news has changed. This is because the total number of the victims alive is twenty three and one dead. Whereas three (3) people are to replace the deceased from his family, making twenty six (26). Recently, only seventeen (17) out of the twenty three (23) victims plus the deceased’s replacement received an SMS that they are deployed to Owerri (Imo State), PortHarcourt and Kano state for training and they should report on Monday 7th March, 2016. Each of the fourteen (14) candidates received an SMS at about 1pm on Friday 4th March, 2016. While the remaining ten (10) Still don’t know their faith.

The affected candidates contacted the SMS sender through this number 08034121955 to enquire about the remaining ten, she (the SMS sender) then explained that she knew nothing about the list. Remember that the directives from the presidency categorically said, “ALL those who were injured in the cause of the exercise across the country would be given automatic recruitment into the service”. Not some of them!

At about 7:30 pm, on Friday 4th March, 2016, the P.R.O Immigration Service Bauchi State Command announced that all victims were shortlisted and should report at their various state posted for training. With this medium they (victims) found a means and communicated to the P.R.O through this number 08032717770 and asked about the remaining. He asked their names and confirmed to them that no such names were included in the list, and that only those that received the SMS were on the list they received from Abuja.

Below is the list of the fourteen (14) victims that went for the training and the remaining ten (10) that did not received any response. I am ever ready to provide their slips and hand cards for further clarification if necessary.
