A youth activist of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has bemoaned what he says is the insatiable penchant for globetrotting by President John Mahama. According to Nana Boakye, such travels which brings little or no benefit to the country is a waste of Ghana’s scares resources.
Similar sentiments have also been expressed by the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Mathew Opoku Prempeh who described the president’s travel as wasteful.
He argued that President Mahama has broken the record of presidential travels abroad in the history of the fourth republic.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Nana Boakye said in the wake of labour agitation in the country, “I expect my president to meet them to resolve the matter”.
He could not fathom why President Mahama takes delight in globetrotting whiles the country is grinding to a halt.
“The country is grinding to halt with due to pervasive poverty, which is causing disenchantment and disaffection amongst Ghanaians” he bemoaned.
Nana Boakye urged President Mahama tot redeem his image by bringing significant change in the economy before he exits power in 2016.
