PSC Refuses To Promote 8 Police Commissioners, 11 Deputy Commissioners Of Police Over Their Refusal To Attend Interview

Police Service Commission, has suspended the promotion of eight service commissioners of Police, to the rank of assistant inspectors general, AIGs.

In a statement issued by the commission spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, on Sunday, the PSC said it had suspended the promotions of eight serving commissioners of police, CPs, to the rank of assistant inspectors general, AIGs, due to their failure to appear before it for a mandatory promotion interview.

The commission also suspended the promotion of eleven deputy commissioners of police to the next rank of commissioners.

He explained that the commission had sent invitations to the officers to appear before it for the usual interaction to ascertain their suitability and capability for the new offices, which they failed to honour.

“The Commission expressed surprise on their failure to honour the invitation, especially as the 2023 general elections are just days away,” he added.
