The law firm of the Special Assistant to the President on Prosecutions, Okoi Obono Obla, has written to the Inspector General of Police seeking for the prosecution of a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Daily Trust reports.
The letter, dated March 27, 2017, signed by Barr. David Ibeawuchi, accused Ibrahim Baba Hassan of forging a Diploma in Business Administration certificate, purporting same to have been obtained from the University of Jos in 1996.
The petition, which was filed following a complaint by Alhaji Jamilu Baba, also alleged that the lawmaker lied on oath in his affidavit supporting his INEC form for the 2015 election.
The petition said the office of the Registrar of the University of Jos had disowned the certificate in a letter dated May 20, 2015.
The lawyer therefore requested the IGP to immediately initiate the prosecution, citing the speedy manner the police handled the case of INEC staff accused of corruption in Rivers State.
