Pro-Ruqaiyyat Protest: Nigeria Youth Parliament, CSO’s, Legal Advisers Gives Al-Makura One Week To Reverses Back The Sacking Of Female Lawyer

The Nigeria Youths Parliament, CSO’s ,Student Organisations and Legal Advisers within Nasarawa state has given the state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura a one week ultimatum from Monday 7/03/2016 to reverse back the termination of the  state counsel, Ruqaiyyat Tijjani Usman or risk mass protest.

The position of the NYP was contained in a protest letter dated 1st March 2016 and sign by the member representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district, Hon.Ibrahim Kabiru Dallah who said the peaceful protest will be from the streets of Lafia to Government House and then they will proceed to House of Assembly.

The Youth Parliament called on the Governor to reconsider its decision follwoing the effect it will have on the young people of Nasarawa state within seven days from the day of receiving the letter to 15/03/2016 which was stipulated for the demonstration.

“I’m writing this protest letter to protest the recent decision of the state Government under the leadership of the chief executive, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura over the termination of appointment of Bar.Ruqaiyyat Tijjani”.

The Nigerian Youth Parliament also berated Governor Al-Makura for the sacking of 7000 young persons in the state from its workforce; The NYP described the termination of appointments by the state Government as a bad omen to the younger generation considering the economic hardship.

Adding that employment remains the economic powerhouse of the state, stating that no single advertisement on recruitment of the young person’s into the state workforce in the state”, In a related development the Organized workers had given the state Government two weeks ultimate to re-instate Ruqaiyyat for the interest workers.

A member of the NLC in the state said the organized labour would go on solidarity strike to press home the reinstatement of a female staff of state ministry of Justice, Ruqaiyyat Tijjani Usman who was fired over her comment on Facebook.

“Her sacking violates the treaty signed between the State Government and the organized labour before the NLC called-off its three weeks old strike.
