The Founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa, has been sentenced to life imprisonment over the disappearance of a one-year-old child, Gold Kolawole, in his church in Akure, Ondo State.
The sentence, handed down on Tuesday, also affected five other members of the church.
The others jailed were Omodara Olayinka, Margaret Oyebola, Grace Ogunjobi, Egunjobi Motunrayo and Esther Kayode.
They were found guilty on a two-count charge bordering on kidnapping and aiding and abetting to kidnap.
The Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, said the prosecution proved circumstantial evidence against the accused persons.
Gold was taken to the church by his parents, where the one-year-old went missing.
Prophet Alfa had described the disappearance of the child as mysterious.
