Hell was let loose as policemen serving in Adamawa State Command threatened fire and brimstone over the nonpayment of their November and December salaries.

The policemen in large numbers had besieged the premises of the Nigerian Police Force Micro Finance Bank in Yola, threatening to burn down the bank if their salaries were  not paid.

The officers sensing that they would celebrate Christmas without salaries demanded the payment of the two months salaries or hell would be let loose.

When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, SP Othman Abubakar, declined comment, saying he was not competent to speak on the matter.

The Branch Manager, NPF Micro Finance Bank, Haruna Yusuf while reacting said, the police authority had not remitted the funds meant for the payment of the salaries of the affected policemen to the bank and he could not pay them the two moths.

According to him, the Adamawa State Police Command informed him, that the funds were with the budget office at the Force Headquarters Abuja, awaiting approval.

” I am just from the state police headquarters Yola, I was informed that, the funds meant for payment of the affected policemen were still with the Budget office of police headquarters in Abuja.

“As soon as the funds are made available to the bank, they would start getting their alert.

“That is the only information I know about the matter, you can go and verify,” Yusuf explained.

Investigations revealed that, policemen in large numbers were affected in the state, while their counterparts from other banks have been collecting their salaries as at when due.

It was gathered that the affected policemen patronize the bank, due to low interest rate on the credit facilities of the NPF Micro Finance Bank.

The affected policemen while bemoaning their condition however said the state police headquarters  was  denying them of their salaries.
