Police Service Commission Gets New Permanent Secretary

A new Permanent Secretary has resumed duties at the Police Service Commission with a pledge to sustain the positive re-engineering of the Commission for effective discharge of its mandate. The Commission is charged with the responsibilities of appointment, promotion and discipline of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

The new Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Commission Mr. Maurice Nnamdi Mbaeri, FCA, took over on Wednesday 27th February, 2019 from the Commission’s former Permanent Secretary Mr. Musa Istifanus who was redeployed to Ministry of Communications.

Speaking after the handover, Mr. Mbaeri said he will do his best not only to sustain the wind of change in the Commission but improve on it so as to ensure that Nigerians feel the impact of the work of the commission through an efficient and law abiding Police Force committed to the protection of lives and properties.

He promised to work closely with the Chairman of the Commission Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police and the Management team, to give both the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force, a new lease of life.

The new Permanent Secretary commended his predecessor in office for the solid foundation he laid for a rapid transformation of the Commission. He promised not to depart from the path he set out.

Mr. Istifanus had while handing over told his successor that he is leaving behind a much improved staff that is better equipped to deliver on their duties. He advised his successor to harvest the new spirit in the Commission and give Nigerians a police force they would be proud of.

Mr. Mbaeri before his deployment was in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
