Concerns are rife over the omission of names of a number of police officers in the recent promotion from Corporal to Sergeant.
Daily Trust learnt that names of 170 officers from the Sokoto state Police command were omitted.
They had attended the promotion course on 25th of May, 2016 at the Police Training School, Sokoto and the promotion was subsequently released on June 8,2016 during which they discovered the omission.
It was gathered that after the omission was detected, the affected officers were told to go through another documentation to be forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police but two months after, many are worried that nothing has been said about the matter.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto state command, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani however assured:”The Force Headquarters had directed all commands to forward names of those omitted and they are processing it for promotion.”
Also contacted, the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Don Awunah said the omissions were due to a human error and efforts are ongoing to rectify the situation.
