Police Officer Who Rejected N150M Bribe Honoured With Plot Of Land In Abuja

Friends, family and colleagues on Friday night gathered at the Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, in the highbrow area of Wuse 2 to celebrate an outstanding Policemen, Superintendent of Police SP Ibrahim Ezekiel Sini who distinguished himself as one of the honest policemen in Nigeria today.

Ibrahim Ezekiel Sini is being celebrated for declining a bribe of N150 million from a Lagos businessman and founder of Platform Capital, Akintoye Akindele.

In recognition of his honesty and professionalism, the Vegas Homes honoured the officer with a plot of land with all the documents in Abuja, in appreciation of his towering integrity.

This is as the Commissioner of Police FCT Police Command, CP Benneth Igweh who presented the land documents to SP Sini described him as “A Policeman with a difference.”

The CP also said, he was at the event to honour one of his boys, SP Sini for Being “diligent and truthful,” while urging other personnel of the Force to emulate the celebrant. The CP however, promised to be present to decorate him with his new rank.

He assured the FCT residents of his determination to fight crime in the city to a standstill, while thanking them for always sharing intelligence information with him through his Whatsapp number to enable the Command responds to incidents in real time.

Prince Chukwuemeka Okoye, the CEO, Vegas Homes, harped on Officer Sini’s commendable character, explaining that the hosting is just one of other show of appreciation they have in store for him.

He said, “This is just the beginning of what we have in store for his commendable conduct. To reject N150 million takes discipline, the fear of God and professionalism. All these are attributes Officer Ibrahim has demonstrated.

“I enjoin my fellow Nigerians to support the efforts of the police so they can better police our country. It is with great pride and admiration that we gather here today to honor SP Ibrahim Sini, a shining example of integrity and dedication within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We are deeply humbled by SP Sini’s unwavering commitment to upholding the law, even in the face of immense pressure and temptation. His courageous refusal of a 150 million naira bribe is a testament to his unwavering moral compass and unwavering belief in the principles of justice and fairness.

 “SP Sini’s actions have not only brought honour to himself and the Nigeria Police Force but have also inspired countless others to stand firm against corruption and uphold the highest ethical standards. His integrity serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that even in challenging circumstances, it is possible to remain true to one’s values.

One of the organisers of the event, Chukwudi Asudeogu, also said Sini’s conduct remains exemplary and should inspire others and Nigerians to note that the Nigerian Police Force have men of integrity and good conduct.

According to him, “This honour is aimed at not only appreciating the laudable conduct of Superintendent Ibrahim Sini, but to demonstrate that society appreciates individuals of integrity and good conduct.

“We want to also show that the Nigerian Police Force have officers that are professional, above board and with the right incentive engage in meaningful policing and be worthy examples,” Asudeogu stated.

SP Sini expressed gratitude to Vegas Homes and assured that he will continue to discharge his duties professionally and honestly as required of all Police officers.

Akindele, is remanded in Kuje prison by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory. He is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Duport Midstream Company who was alleged to have offered police a bribe of N150 million to pervert the course of investigation in a petition against him.

The business man was said in the charge to have dropped N50 million as part of the alleged bribe to the IGP’s team of investigators led by Ibrahim Ezekiel Sini.

According to the charge, the bribe was offered to allow police permit him to escape abroad and to write a favourable report for him after the investigation.

Akindele was arrested in respect of a petition submitted to the Police Chief by Summit Oil International Limited and was alleged to have swindled the firm of $5, 636, 397 and another N73, 543, 764. KO
