Police Officer, Others Arrested For Stealing And Vandalizing Electric Transformer

The Nigeria Police on Monday has confirmed the arrest of one of its officer alongside other criminals for vandalizing electric transformer.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Idirisu Kennedy in a press statement made available to universalreporters247.com stated that the suspects were alleged to have vandalized an electricity transformer at Obi Junction and stole the coils.

The spokesperson stated that the case will be diligently investigated and all person(s) found culpable be prosecuted”.

Items recovered from them include four rolls of copper coils and tools used for the vandalization.

“On Friday, 17th November 2017 at about 1530hrs operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nasarawa acting on intelligence arrested five suspects, including a police officer, for Criminal Conspiracy, and Theft.

The statement further said the investigation into the case has commenced by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Lafia.

He, however, said disciplinary procedure against the police officer is concurrently ongoing.

The Nasarawa Police command assures the public that the Nigeria Police Force is determined to purge out bad eggs from the Force.

The PPRO says the cleansing of the police force of bad blood is in line with the Inspector-General of Police policy of zero tolerance to corruption and misconduct.
