During a Saturday routine patrol at the Ogun-Oyo boundary, police arrested 20 youths armed with dangerous weapons.
Spokesperson CSP Omotola Odutola announced that, during an inspection, Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo intercepted the group in key border zones.
Specifically, the inspection focused on strategic areas such as edumare and bamboo.
Authorities reported that the youths exited a transport truck; however, they could not provide valid travel documentation.
Additionally, when questioned, the youths failed to explain their destination clearly.
Acting on professional instincts, CP Ogunlowo ordered a search of their persons and belongings.
This search uncovered an array of dangerous weapons, including daggers, knives, cutlasses, and objects suspected to be charms.
After the discovery, CP Ogunlowo promptly ordered the detention of the youths.
He also instructed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to perform a detailed profiling of these individuals.
The Commissioner further directed that any individual found culpable should be promptly charged to court to ensure justice is served.
In her statement, CSP Odutola emphasized the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and community engagement.
Building on current security measures, the Ogun Police Command announced: “We’re intensifying crime prevention strategies and rapid response protocols across all districts.”
Authorities reiterated their call for vigilance, urging residents to report suspicious activities immediately through official hotlines for swift counteroperations.
Furthermore, Odutola emphasized the Command’s unwavering mission to eliminate criminal networks by focusing on coordinated operations that protect community safety and assets.
Consequently, this decisive response highlights officers’ commitment to sustaining public order and creating safer neighborhoods through proactive policing frameworks.
