Police Inspector General Decorates 15 Newly Promoted Commissioners, Charges Officers On Professionalism

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has charged police officers on professionalism ahead of the 2019 general election, and warned against unethical conduct in the build up to the elections.

IGP Idris, who gave the charge at the monthly meeting with officers of the rank of Commissioners of Police and above in Abuja on Tuesday, also urged them to avoid temptations from politicians who would want to compromise them.

According to him, “You have to avoid temptations from political actors at the cost of having smooth and credible elections in 2019.”

He charged commissioners of the various commands to impress it on their officers to be civil in discharging their duties adding that there was need for officers and men of the force to be steadfast in carrying out their duties professionally.‎

Meanwhile, the IGP has decorated 15 commissioners of police who were recently promoted by the Police Service Commission.

Among those decorated include Omolulu Shamsiden Bishi, Isaac Olutayo Akimoyede, Aminu Pai Saleh, Makama Hamisu Usman, Dajuma Mohammed Ibrahim, who was recently promoted after he was discharged and acquitted over the killing six Apo traders.

Others are Mobolaji Olaniyi Fafowora, Igbodo David, Okon Etim Ene, Abang John, Aminu Koji Kwabe, Felix Gochuk Gani, Ibrahim Sabo Umar, Joseph Gobum Mukan Wakili Mohammed ‎and Abdullahi Yerima Ibrahim.
