The Nasarawa State Police command has doled out a whooping forty-eight million, five hundred thousand naira cheques to sixteen deceased families of the Nigeria police who lost their lives while on active service.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel, and made available to Journalists in Lafia.
According to the statement, the Nasarawa state commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The commissioner of Police while presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, appreciated the IGP for bringing succour to the families of late officers.
He appealed to all the beneficiaries to invest the money in profitable ventures that will better the lives of their families.
Adding that the gesture is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, ‘’Group Life Assurance’’ geared towards improving the capacity and living standard of the families of Police personnel that lost their lives in the line of duty.
It would be recalled that in 2013, over 104 security personnel in the state were killed during the Ombotse crisis with police having the highest number of casualties.
