Police Force PRO Testifies Against 3 Policemen Who Extorted Money From Ibadan Residents

The Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, appeared at the Orderly Room Trial of three policemen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to testify against them over extortion of some residents of the city.

The three policemen are facing trial at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, over extortion of some residents in the Oluyole area of the city, which they were said to have perpetrated in the month of May, 2022.

However, when their Orderly Room Trial began on Tuesday, Adejobi arrived at the police headquarters, saying he had come to testify against the policemen as he had earlier promised to be in Ibadan over the development.

Disclosing the trial proceeding on his Twitter handle on Tuesday and accompanying it with photographs of the trial, Adejobi said he decided to do this so as to show that the Nigerian Police is serious about discipline in the Force.

According to his tweets on the matter: “Force PRO was at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, to testify against some policemen who extorted some innocent Nigerians at Oluyole area of Ibadan on 8th May, 2022. I promised to come to ibadan for their orderly room trial, and i did.

“We need to sacrifice whatever we can to bring sanity to our system. The NPF must be better, provided we all see it as a responsibility and act accordingly.

“Thanks to the CP Oyo, CP Williams, for his understanding and support, we are on the same page on this fight against indiscipline, unprofessionalism and corruption.”
