Police Foiled Bank Robbery In Aba

The Nigerian Police in Aba, Abia State said it foiled a bank robbery effort as it killed one  of the robbery suspects.
Abia State Commissioner of Police Alhaji Usman Mohammed, who confirmed the attack while speaking to newsmen said that, the robbery was foiled as the gang broke into the bank, located on Asa Road.
According to Mohammed he said, the robbers came at about 2 a.m. and attempted to force their way into the banking hall when policemen promptly stopped them.  Continuing he added that that one of the robbers was gunned down while others escaped.
Aba Area Police Commander, Alhaji Rabiu Dayi, who visited the scene also confirmed the incident, he told newsmen that 17 expended shells of AK 47 riffle, a master key and a mobile phone handset were recovered at the scene of the crime.
“They were said to be six but one of them was shot dead while others fled when they noticed the heavy presence of policemen,” he said.
Mr. Anari Anari, the Officer in-Charge of the Police Command’s Anti-robbery Unit, appealed to the public to provide useful information on the fleeing robbers.
Anari said that the commercial city and its environs were no longer safe for criminal activities.
