A suspect accused of participating in the recent cult clash between the Black Axe and Vikings confraternity in Benin City, Edo State, George Eghosa Utomwen has been declared wanted by the Police.
Reports from the State Police Command indicates that the 23rd December 2013 clash which recorded brutal killings and scores of injuries had resulted in the arrest of several suspected cultists and detained in the State facilities for days.
However, Utomwen was later discovered to have mysteriously escaped from Police custody after days of detention without court trial. The Police Authority has consequently instituted a massive hunt for the suspects at large.
A family member, who pleaded anonymity however hinted that they fear for the life and safety of George, whose whereabout they said has remained unknown since his arrest. “We are very disturbed. We know George is a very peaceful person and is innocent of the allegations being preferred against him. Yet the police have refused us access to him since he was arrested and now there are controversies surrounding his whereabout”. He stated.
