Police Arrest Five Officers Under SARS, Detains Them

The police in Lagos State on Tuesday arrested five operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for molesting a citizen, Immanuel James Ibe-Anyanwu.

The arrest of the Five SARS Operatives was based on the orders of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi.

They were initially declared wanted after fleeing the scene of the crime, where they allegedly manhandled Ibe-Anyanwu.

A report to the headquarters of the Command had Imohimi deploying the X-Squad to find out what was happening at the scene of the incident.

But on sighting the X-Squad, the policemen fled, leading to Imohimi issuing the order that they must be fished out.

A statement on Tuesday by the spokesman of the Command, Chike Oti, had it that the five policemen were of the Ipakodo Base of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Their names and ranks were given as Inspector Taiwo Omojope, Inspector Arigidi Ebibor, Sergeants Rotimi Adesoba, Olalekan Olakunle and Friday Oni.

They are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command’s X-Squad Section and would be matched before an Adjudicating Officer at the Police Provost Department for the commencement of their orderly
