A 70-year-old man, Kareem Adebayo has been arraigned by police before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo for allegedly defrauding a woman Alirat Olawumi of N250,000.
At the court on Tuesday, the Prosecutor Taiwo Adegoke briefed the court that the accused person sometimes in the year 2017 received the sum of N250,000 from Alirat Olawumi with the pretence to assist her son, Jamiu Olawumi in securing a job.
The prosecutor added that the offence committed by the accused is contrary to and punishable under section 419 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty of the allegation preferred against him and his counsel, Mr Nagite Okobe applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms.
In her ruling, Magistrate Olubokola Awodele granted the accused person bail of N200,000 with one surety and adjourned the matter to 24th of November, for hearing.
