Plateau Speaker Azi pledges to justify his mandate, deliver dividends of democracy

Plateau-State-House-of-AssemblyThe Speaker Rt Hon. Peter Ajang Azi has echoed on insecurity in Plateau state as smoking truth of underdeveloped society and the challenges ahead.

He made this disclosure while in an exclusive interview with our correspondent at the Plateau State House of Assembly complex in Jos .

The Speaker   Azi pledged to justify the mandate reposed on him at the polls by carrying along all a sundry devoid of political inclination.

He attributed the backwardness of the state insecurity selfish interest of leaders, attesting that his representation to the people will be an exception, describing the killings in the state as quite disturbing.

Azi described his victory and that of APC government as true reflection of democracy but stressing that the people have spoken, he assured the electorates that I will never fail them as long as my stay in the state legislature is concerned.

He promised to ensure checks and balances between the executive and legislative arm of government that he will contribute immensely towards the development of the state through presenting motions that touched the lives of the electorate.

The Speaker PLHA , affirmed that the future of Plateau state lies on a virile and prolific lawmakers ,promising to contribute a bill that has direct bearing to the speedy development of Plateau state to attract more investors to come in.

Rt Hon. Azi said Plateau state under the leadership of Governor Simon Bako Lalong will redirect its attention to education, health and infrastructural development.

One of the first steps the PLHA took in order to address the problems particularly insecurity was to set up committee to commence dialogue with the affected communities in education and health sectors as well as infrastructural development was the same committee set up to access the services provided In these sectors .

According to him, he believe that the state government will resuscitate education and health sectors ,on security challenges ,said government is not folding its hand on the matter as effort has been intensified in recent time to collaborate with federal government to checkmating the violence in the state.

The house is working closely with the communities including security agencies on security challenges pointing out. Government is also making all efforts to checkmate the internal crisis arising from attacks to youth’s restiveness.

He urged government at all levels to come up with policies and programmes that would create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.

Since we were inaugurated as the House of Assembly members we all see security as the biggest challenges and a matter of concern so we set up a special committee to fashion the out and advise government on the way forward.

We all need to understand that Plateau state used to be described as the most peaceful place in the country but the rate of killings had brought a lot of deep concerned.

The House of Assembly organized parley to reduce the tension which is yearning positive result among communities, we want to bridge gap by ensuring that people understand each other.

Rt Hon Azi said so many investors cannot come into Plateau state because of the problem of insecurity, but since this special committee that we set up, the deputy Speaker Hon. Yusuf Gagdi to bring peace and attract more investors is gaining positive result.

We all need to put our hands on the desk to achieve total peace ,the house of Assembly is working assiduously as a team to ensure that the people put aside their differences  and party different to develop Plateau of our dream.
