Following the wide spread of coronvirus, the Nigeria Security &the Civil Defense Corps ,NSCDC ,Plateau State command has deployed personnel across the 17 Local Government Councils to curtain the speed spread of COVID 19 in public, private schools including motor parks .
The state commandant ,Dr Solomon Olasupo confirmed to our correspondent in an interview says ,the exercise was in commensurate with the federal government directive to safeguard the lives of Nigerian.
According to him, the commandant General ,Muhammadu Abdullahi Gana instructed all the 36 states commands to deployed personnel across the length and breath of the county for the safety of the people .
Solomon charged all the NSCDC personnel to ensure that they secure the mandate of protection of lives and properties of the citizens by delivery qualitative live
He said NSCDC personnel in collaboration with other sisters security agencies are battle ready to contain the virus from further spreading in the state .
Meanwhile , the Plateau state government on Thursday night ordered for the immediate closure of all schools, both public and private operating in the state on or before Saturday March 21.
A press statement issued by the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Prof. Danladi Atu, said the decision was taken in order to discourage the possible spread of the coronavirus among residents in the state.
He said the closure includes pre-primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.
“The decision becomes unavoidable because of the world spread of Covid-19 in the country and the world at large. It is therefore imperative for government to adapt these and other measures to safegaurd lives of its citizens,” the statement said
.
The statement further encouraged citizens in the state to ensure the highest levels of personal hygiene as way of curtailing and preventing the pandemic.
