Plateau Killings: Death Toll Rises To 27 Including, 5 Assailants, One Soldier

The number of deaths from the recent Plateau State village massacre has risen to at least 27 with one soldier and five of the assailants killed by suspected by Fulani herders, as gathered it was after several hours of gun battle with operations Safe Heaven in Bassa Local Government Council killed.

Confirming to our correspondent ,the Media officer ,Captain Adamu Umar, of the task force, said, “Apart from one soldier that  was killed,  five alleged herders  were killed by our men, some sustained various degrees of injuries.

According to him, the special task force on Jos crisis, tagged Operation Safe Haven, revealed that they killed five people who are suspected to be assailants who attacked and killed 21 persons in Ncha, a village in Bassa LGA of Plateau.

In their statement on Monday, the media officer told us that they killed the suspected perpetrators of the recent mayhem in Plateau State.

He confirmed the death of one members of task force who died in the encounter while another was injured which the soldier is quickly   responding to medical treatment.

Captain Umar also says the entire Ncha village is under security surveillance as members of the taskforce have since been drafted to the scene for days to commence day and night patrol and to curb the area in search of the remaining assailants.

Our findings revealed the killings of residents and the police said it was likely carried out by Fulani herdsmen in retaliation for the death of a Fulani boy.

President Muhammadu Buhari has since condemned the attack, and urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.
