Plateau Internal Revenue Service Pledges To Employ 500 Ad-Hoc Staff In Revenue Generation Of 17 Billion Budget

The Acting Executive Chairman ,Plateau state internal Revenue Service ,Mr Dashe Arlat has pledged to make use 500  temporary workers to judiciously generate 17,000.000.000.00 toward implementing and  financing the 2017 budget.

Arlat disclosed this to journalists during a press briefing held at the headquarters on Tuesday.

He explained that the state government plan to employ strategies inwards to achieve its mandate of the service leverage on the automation processes which makes it mandatory for payment to be made through banks ,POP, machines and the internet via tax payers ‘tax identification number (TIN) .

Mr Arlat pointed out that staff of the service were deployed to engage tax payers in a new approach tagged “Know Your Taxpayers (KYT) which encourages face to face interaction ,assessment ,collection and a follow up exercise to organizations and individuals to stimulate compliance.

According to him, the service placed emphasis on tax education and sensitization, intensified more awareness campaign across the state using difference medium of communication to create illicit and voluntary tax compliance.

He further reiterated the commitment of Lalong administration in strengthening the task of service of adhoc staff to widen the output of the state income generation.

Dashe Arlat disclosed that training of staff will result in huge progress in capturing and populating data of taxpayers from informal sector with much work still needed to be done in that area.

The PSIRS boss said, the consultation with stakeholders, partnering with local government management and ministries, departments agencies is gradually yielding positive result.

The Plateau state bill more state revenue generation has passed through the House of Assembly legislation process and will soon be ready for use in the state, he added.

He solicited the continuous support and cooperation of the public as we go out to perform out duty of revenue generation to help provide government with much needed resources to bring development to the state.
