Satlong Ahmed has emerged as the best graduating student of ISM Adonai University, Cotonou, Benin Republic, theeagleonline.com.ng is reporting.

The Registrar of the university, Mohammed Adamu, made the disclosure in Jos on Friday when he led other officials of the institution to robe Governor Simon Lalong.

It would be recalled that Lalong was recently conferred with the university’s Doctor of Philosophy Degree Honoris Causa.

Adamu said Ahmed, a First Class International Relations graduate of the 2017/2018 session, scored a record Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.84.

He said: “In the history of the university, this is the first time a student will be graduating with such CGPA.

“The university has concluded arrangements to name a lecture theatre after Plateau to honour Ahmed.”

The registrar noted that the university authorities found Lalong worthy of the  doctorate degree because of his outstanding performance as a governor.

Adamu particularly highlighted Lalong’s efforts in improving the state’s education sector.

He said: “We have also taken into consideration your contribution in the entrenchment of peace and peaceful coexistence.

“It wouldn’t have been possible for us to be here to enjoy the cool weather without peace.”

Lalong in his remarks said in line with his administration’s policy, the best graduating student would be given scholarship to study abroad up to PhD level.

The governor appreciated the university authorities for finding him worthy of the doctorate degree.

He said it was even a greater honour for the university’s leadership to come all the way to robe him in Jos.

He said: “I was unable to attend the graduation because I was very busy and was represented by the Director, Research and Documentation, Prof. John Wade.

“Plateau is honoured by this gesture as you have recognised our modest contributions to the development of the state.”
