Plateau  Health Workers Now Enjoy 90% Increase In Salary Under CONMESS

The Commissioner, Ministry of Health.Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk has disclosed that Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has increased Medical Doctors’ Salary Structure from 80% to 90% on 2019 CONMESS to help reduce brain drain.

Speaking during the monthly briefing held at Joseph Gwomwalk Secretariat on Monday.

Shurkuk stated that the Hazard Allowance of 75% was paid to Medical Doctors. Other Health Workers received between N15,000 to N25,000.00 Hazard Allowances according to their Grade Levels in Plateau State under the stewardship of the amiable governor.

According to him, the governor approved the promotion of medical health staff and it was released immediately, to reinvigorate further and boost the morale of State Health workers for effective Health Care Service delivery.

Shurkuk said the Newly Established National Orthopaedic Hospital in Jos and the Federal Medical Center Wase have started providing services at their Temporary sites.

Dr Cletus Bako revealed that the former Psychiatric and Obstetrics/Gynecology Units of the Old JUTH, the temporary site of the Orthopedic Hospital has been fenced and renovated.

“While the Federal Medical Center Wase has taken off at the Cottage Hospital Wase as its Temporary site.

“The State Government had earlier donated 6.545 Hectares of Land at Mararaban Jamaa to serve as the Permanent site for the Orthopedic Hospital and the Legacy Project Wase will serve as its Permanent site for the Federal Medical Center,”he noted.

He maintained that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Ministry of Health and the State Government on the Orthopedic Hospital Jos and the Federal Medical Centre Wase will soon be signed.

Cletus Bako added that the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) has been onboarded in Plateau State and known as the Plateau State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (PLASEMSAS) whose training was conducted between 23rd to 27th October 2023.

Shurkuk stressed that the programme intends to address Medical emergencies and respond to disasters in the State, the Ag. PLASEMSAS State Coordinator has been appointed and an office provided.
