Mrs Hulda Fwangchi, the Interim Administrator, Pankshin Local Government of Plateau State on Monday, called on stakeholders in the forthcoming council polls especially security agencies, to ensure hitch exercise.
The administrator, who made the call during a familiarisation visit to federal and state agencies in Pankshin, said “the Local Government poll is very crucial to the state government.”
“We believe we can only succeed with your support and cooperation, considering the fact that a peaceful poll will ensure a social and economic growth and development.

“As stakeholders, we must not allow hoodlums and trouble makers to cause trouble or confusion during the conduct of the election.
“It is in view of the importance of the polls to the state government that some of us have been posted to tailor the affairs of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state,” she said.
Fwangchi commended the stakeholders for the existing cordial relationship between them and the council and called for more synergy toward a “peaceful, successful and credible “council election.
She said that Pankshin had been known for its peaceful nature, adding that nothing should be allowed to spoil the good name.
“We must work tirelessly together, to ensure that the good name of pankshin known as a peaceful and attractive council is maintained no matter what.
“The world is kindly waiting to see how successful our council election will be and we should ensure that the relative peace that the state is enjoying is not jeopardised.
Responding, Mr Samuel David, Officer-in-charge of the SSS Zonal Office, said that officers and men of the organisation had been posted to the 20 wards in the council to monitor movement of the people to “curb any eventuality.”
Also speaking, DSP Augustine Pam, the Divisional Police Officer, Pankshin, said the force was prepared for the election and would ensure that security of all was guaranteed.
“Our officers and men will be deplored to all polling units in all the 20 wards and ensure that all election materials, before and after the election, are well guarded and protected,” he promised.
However, the agencies and institutions visited include, NDLEA, FRSC, Nigeria Immigration Service, STF brigade, CIB, Federal College of Education, Pankshin among others.
The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has fixed Dec. 21, 2013 for the council polls and not Dec. 7, 2013 as earlier announced.
In related development the Langtang south interim administrator Mr Christopher Cirman Bello has indicated willingness to ensure that the elections in the area is free and fair.
He sued for the support and cooperation of the people to enable him conduct the polls.

Bello expressed readiness to partner with security agencies for forthcoming exercise.
