Plateau Chairman Tractors Owners and Operators Urges Federal, State Government To Provide Loan For Farmers

The Chairman Tractors owners and Operator Association of Nigeria ,Plateau State and Chairman Nigerian Farmers ,Shendam Branch ,Mr Kenneth Tsemba Bako has disclosed that the problems of peasant farmers in Nigeria has been associated with lack of funds and poor government policy to provide mechanics system of farming in the country.
Addressing journalists in Jos on the plight of Nigerian farmers, Bako urged state and federal government to create a conducive atmosphere to help reduce poverty and unemployment through mechanics system of farming.
He said the state is endowed with abandon mineral deposits but our rural farmers are yet to benefit from the bank of industry and loan set aside to cushion the high cost acquiring farm stools to boost the agricultural sector.
The farmers in plateau State under the auspices of “Association of Plateau state Farmers” North central Nigeria, has cried out over lack of market for their farm produce.
As they called on Plateau state government and by extension federal government to come to the aid of the farmers in plateau State by connecting them with international markets where their farm product will be dispose after harvest to avoid selling them at giveaway price at the local market.
Kenneth Bako, a farmer who is Governor Simon Lalong younger brother into Rice, Maize farming and other farm product make the appeal in an interview with our correspondence during the plateau day celebration at the ongoing “Jos Trade Fair” held at Polo Field in Jos the plateau state capital.
Bako who speak on behalf of his member ” Association of farmers” plateau state chapter, commend the federal and the state government who has been magnanimous with the farmers in the state by providing tractors and other farm implements for them to enhance their productivity.
Kenneth who is at the trade fair to survey what his association is showcasing, said “agriculture is the first among other things that enhances the development of the state, without it, the nation may not be anywhere.
He added that the farmers association in the state partner with the government through “Anchor Borrower Schemes “,noon governmental organizations, those are the people that enhances the development of federal, state and local.
“we partner with them in terms of equipment and other implements to enhance modern farming practices and to develop our agricultural system.
He call on the government to provide the youths with soft loan and modern farming equipment that can aid them to start modern farming business.
Mr Bako call on the youth to stop scouting for white collar jobs that are very rear to come by.
