A group of sponsored irate youths yesterday attacked the All Progressive Congress (APC), campaign vehicles in Gyel District of Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State.
The APC campaign team, who had gone to pay homage to Dagwom Rwei of Jos South, Da Dr Nga Dangyang and to also seek for his royal blessing as they go about seeking the mandate of the Plateau people canvassing for their votes for the party ahead of March 28 2015 general election in the state.
The Youths who were suspected to be People Democratic Party’s supporters came out in their numbers, attacked and smashed no fewer than five (5) cars in the APC campaign rally that visited the royal father, just some few meters away from the palace of the royal father chanting ”we don’t want APC in this place but PDP we want and GNS we go votes”.
Responding over the drastic incident, the Director Media and publicity Lalong/ Tyoden campaign organization, Barrister Festus Fonter, condemned, the unprovoked attack on the convoy by the Gyel youths in Jos South LGA.
He said, the act was indeed most unfortunate, barbaric, and the act only goes to show how desperate our opponents are getting, knowing that they are definitely going to lose the forth coming elections.
Funter also said that it wish to use this medium to commend our supporters for the calmness and maturity they exhibited in the face of the unprovoked attack.
Furthermore he said, “as a matter of fact it was our supporters who contributed money and gave one of the attackers for his treatment after sustaining a deep cut on his arm when he used his hand to smash the wind screen of one of our cars.
This is a very rare situation in our politics in Nigeria but because of our commitment to a peaceful change, we were able to calm the situation. And since victory is in sight, we will remain focused and resist any form of violence that will do us no as people of Plateau.
He also called on all APC supporters to always remain focused and resist any firm of violence that will blow no good to anyone.”
