Official Portrait of Vice President Muhammadu BuhariA People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chieftain and activist, Alhaji Abubakar Dogon Yaro Bibi has commended President Mohammadu Buhari on his 100 days in office saying so far his performance has been satisfactory.

Speaking to universalreporters247.com  in Bauchi, Bibi disagreed with the critics of President Buhari who hold the perception that his too slow saying the President has achieved  remarkably within the  period under review and Nigerians should expect more.

According to him, “Buhari is not slow because if you observe, every day there is a chain of permanent secretary visiting to inform him on how they run the ministries, so he is not going to appoint a Minister without knowing the actual problem in the  ministries so he is not slow, he has to know the in and out of the ministry that he can appoint to manage that place.”

He said: “To be honest and candid, Buhari is doing well in discharging his duty as the President of this Nation because if in the area of insecurity, he has played a significant role.”

On the criticism that has greeted appointments made so far by President Buhari, Bibi said that the President acted on his prerogative of office and hence should not be faulted.

According to him, “even the Secretary to the Federal Government that Buhari recently appointed is a member of APC. He didn’t even bring somebody from the PDP, AD or APGA and so forth, so he had a trust of the people before appointing them so he appointed them on merit.”

Bibi disagreed with the uproar across the country that greeted appointments by Buhari, particularly from the people of the South who decried that Buhari has so far marginalized them saying it was too early to use that as a yardstick for marginalization.

The PDP chieftain said: “there is no marginalization of the south, we have to wait to see what we happen in about a month or two, after he constituted his cabinet, then it is then we can know whether he marginalized the South or not.”

On the current fight by the administration against corruption, he challenged the President to take urgent steps to checkmate state governors if he must win the war against corruption.

Bibi lamented the high level of corruption in the states explaining that governors have turned local government in their respective states into appendages of looting the treasury.

He said,”if really is that the President is going to fight corruption, he must start from the state governors because corruption starts from that area. If you observe like Bauchi state, since the inception of Mohammed Abubakar administration, the federation account comes regularly but unfortunately, there is nothing to show for it in the local government areas but only the salaries.”

According to the activist stressed that; “Abubakar did not deem it feet to appoint even the caretaker for the council, there is no election so far so that the local Government can move ahead.”

He said: “As a matter of urgency, I will call on the National Assembly to enact a bill for the account of the Local Government to be independent so that the local Government can forge ahead but if this is not done the corruption will be there.”

Bibe urged Governor Abubakar to be accountable to the electorate and to reduce his excessive travelling because all the trips he has embarked upon have no serious impact on the economy of the state.
