…..call for probe of Max Air flight disruption, demand compensation
Passengers on the MaxAir flight VM 1648 from Abuja to Yola have petitioned the Ministry of Aviation to launch a thorough investigation into its disrupted flight operation on September 7, 2025.
According to the petition signed by Adewuyi Farinde on behalf of other passengers, they called on the Ministry to probe the incident and ensure appropriate sanctions against the airline.
Farinde and other passengers, including Alheri Zira and Ani Christopher, said the light was rescheduled multiple times without adequate notice or explanation and was later canceled and rescheduled for the next day.
They lamented that the cancellation disrupted their travel plans and that the airline failed to make necessary arrangements for them.
Excerpts: “We are writing to bring to your attention a grave concern regarding MaxAir Ltd’s egregious breach of Nigerian Aviation law. On September 7, 2025. Our booked MaxAir flight (VM 1648) from Abuja to Yola, scheduled to depart at 9:05 am, was rescheduled multiple times without adequate notice or explanation.
The flight was initially rescheduled to 5:55 pm, then delayed by two hours, and ultimately rescheduled for 9:00 am the following day, resulting in a 24-hour delay.
This series of actions left passengers stranded at the airport without provision for food, accommodation, or a valid explanation. The situation was particularly distressing for students resuming school and individuals with prior commitments, who were severely inconvenienced.
We urge the Federal Government of Nigeria to launch an investigation into MaxAir’s repeated misconduct and impose necessary sanctions.
As victims of MaxAir’s misconduct, we demand justice and compensation for the significant losses incurred. We will pursue this matter until MaxAir is held accountable and our demands are met.
The passages urged the Federal Ministry of Aviation to take immediate action to address the issue and ensure that airlines operate in accordance with the law, prioritizing passenger welfare and safety.
