Parents In Nasarawa State Threatens To Withdraw Wards From Public Junior Secondary School And Primary Schools Over Crumbling And Falling Walls

Piqued over the conditions of Junior Secondary and public Primary schools in Nasarawa State, parents have threatened to withdraw their wards for the safety of their lives.

Parents who spoke to universalreporters247.com in Nasarawa Eggon have expressed concerned over the shaking fortress of Ta’al Model School built by this administration.

Feelers revealed that apart from Nasarawa Eggon Model School are also Ta’al Model School Keana is at the pangs of collapsing.

The development according to Jibrin Keana foists him to withdraw his Children to private school.

Also Nasiru Adamu of Lafia East expressed worry over the State of the new storey building, as he faulted the State government for lack of supervision of projects.

Calling on the State government to take a frantic approach by putting all public schools ranging from Junior Secondary and Primary schools in by embarking on massive renovation and equipping of affected schools

Usman Ebenya, Nasarawa State Chairman of the National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria expressed discontentment over the conditions of structures that were built in less than four years ago were already in shambles due to substandard work.

He added that already from the reports available to him, some of the structures in Akwanga, Nassarawa-Eggon, Lafia, Doma, Keffi were seriously dilapidated.

He said that the state government should take urgent steps towards addressing the problem in order to avoid loss of lives.

Similarly, Audu Michael, a parent said that the government should bring the contractors of the shoddy buildings to Book to serve as deterrent.

He said that if steps are not taken, some of them would withdraw their children from such schools to avoid any misfortune due to negligence.

When contacted, Yakubu Ahmed Ubangari, the Executive Secretary of Nasarawa State Universal Education Board, said they are aware of the issue, but he most get permission from the board’s Chairman before he speak to the press.

It would be recalled that the incumbent administration constructed over 400 classrooms which include storey building of Taal Model School.
