The 7-Man Administrative Panel of Enquiry set up by the Anambra state government to look into last year’s disturbances in Obosi Community in Idemili North Local Government Area has submitted its report.
The panel which was inaugurated on the 26th Of October, last year to look into the remote and immediate causes of the crisis in Obosi, disclosed that it held 25 sittings during which 17 witnesses testified and 268 documentary exhibits were presented.
Presented to the governor, were 3 volumes of their work comprising the records of their proceedings, the exhibits that were tendered, the report and their recommendations.
Receiving the report, Gov Obiano who commended members of the panel for a job well done, expressed the hope that the report will be beneficial in permanently addressing the crises in the Community.
Governor Obiano during the ceremony, commissioned the Panel to immediately look into the land dispute between Ukpo and Abagana communities with a view to averting further crises.
While noting that the state government will offset their outstanding allowances, the governor assured that he will support them in their new task to enable them deliver on their mandate.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof Joe Asike noted that in its bid to ensure objectivity in the determination of the matter, the state government had appointed people of integrity as members of the panel and acknowledged that the extra time which the panel took was to enable them do a thorough job
The Chairman of the Panel, Retired Justice Chike Nwizu explained that the panel had worked in accordance with their terms of reference, avoiding issues that were already in court, adding that in the discharge of their duties, they integrated memoranda from all stakeholders in the community.
