There was pandemonium in the surrounding inhabitants of Ommi 1 , The seat of Isa Mustapha Agwai l, Polytechnic, Lafia following the allegation of the demise of Mechanical Engineering student, Terhile Timothy  Achinya who was beaten to death by soldiers.

The Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Maifata has appealed to students to remain focused, calm and resolute, saying the management of the institution is on top of the situation.

The President of, Students Union Government of the institution Isa, Comrade Jacob John Mutuwa in a chat told Universal Reporters that the situation began when one Samuel Ejembi popularly known as Level informed the yet-to-be-identified military men in Lafia of six students’ alleged involvement in cult activities which triggered the soldiers to come and whisk them away from Eji World, a lodge across the Polytechnic, including Level, the alleged informant.

Mutuwa said having undergone series of interrogations and torturing by the military men, Achinya died and his corpse was deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

The SUG President averred that the corpse was not taken to any private laboratory as speculated in some quarters, He commended the management of the institution for making efforts to accommodate students on campus from the next session, insisting that it will provide hitch-free security and safety of students.

Thanking the students for being calm and law-abiding despite the tragic loss, adding that lawyers have been engaged to handle the gory situation,

The National Association of Nigerian Students in a press statement joined the SUG of the Polytechnic calling for calm and prompt action to bring the perpetrators to book.

NANS Coordinator, Zone C, Comrade  Daniel Friday Egga lauded the action taken by the management and SUG Leadership of the institution in addressing the matter, calling on the State Government and well-meaning individuals to join hands in seeking Justice for the victim and his family.

The statement alleged that the soldiers were attached to the 123 Special Force Battalion, Doma enjoining military authorities to take immediate action.

In a swift reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said he will find out and respond accordingly.
