Over 40 Engaged PES Teachers Stormed TSC, Demand Explanation Over Exclusion

Rabiu Omaku

Over forty engaged teachers in Nasarawa State stormed the headquarters of the State Teachers Service Commission demanding for explanation on why they were ex-communicated.

Speakers after speakers asked pertinent questions on why they were accommodated in the first place and their names missing after the approval of the current Governor for an offer of a permanent and pensionable appointment.

The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Galadima while addressing the aggrieved teachers said applicant with Primary Education Studies (PES) would not be accommodated because their course is irrelevant in Secondary schools.

He also explained that those with Early Child Education (ECE) have no place in Secondary schools and directed those with issues to contact the State Universal Basic Education Board.

As he further said the fist plan was to deploy 1,500 teachers to Primary schools while the remaining teachers would take care of Secondary schools.

The Chairman of the newly recruited teachers, Tanko Mahmud appreciate the Chairman of the TSC for his transparency in compiling the list of the genuine teachers.

Our reporter who was in the Commission’s office discovered that the appointment letters were back-dated October 21st, 2018.

Our reporter gathered that the foundation for the engagement of the 2,184 was wrongly done without the prior knowledge of the Teachers’ Service Commission instead was done by the immediate past Commissioner of education, Ahmed Tijjani Aliyu, who is now the Secretary to the State Government and the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abdullahi Agwai.

It was gathered that some of those in charge of the engagement exercise used their position to favor a section of the State for political gain ahead of 2023 election.

Feelers revealed that the SSG, who is nursing his governorship ambition ahead of 2023 governorship election, favored mostly applicants from Keffi, Kokona, Karu, Toto, Nasarawa Local Governments.

Tijjani Aliyu could not be reached for comment over why the appointment letters were not shared to the beneficiary in October, 2018 when contacted on telephone line.

“Your comment is very important on the issue of engaged Teachers’ which u were part of, good morning (Rabiu Omaku) Press”.Is the text message sent to the SSG by our reporter.
