Orlu  West Senatorial Zone Marks New Yam Festival Celebration In Jos

Igbo Socio-Cultural Association of Orlu West Senatorial Zone of IMO state residents in Plateau under His Royal Highness, Chief Samuel Achi has asked the Nigerian government to use cultural diversity in promoting the diverse cultural differences which can be used in adding economic value to the country.

 

Speaking at the New yam festival celebration, Achi said from the beginning of the yam festival celebration we see peaceful existence amongst us with other Nigerians if given adequate attention by those in authority.

 

The Chairman of the occasion who performed the ritual rites of eating new yam in Jos, Plateau State HRH, Chief, Samuel Achi the Igwe Osa (1) at the yam festival along Rukuba Road in Jos North LGA of Plateau state on Sunday.

 

 

Hr said the celebration of new yam festival to the speaking natives of Nigeria is an annual event which mark one of the biggest honored and special delicacy attach to eating of yam when the season comes to an end of the year.

 

 

The National President of Orlu association Jos Branch, Chief Fidelis Onwuzurike alias Castro’s said they are building on the culture of Igbo race to ensure that the youths know the main purpose of yam festival and value place on their origin.

 

Hr explained further that the yam festival recorded landmark history in Igbo land where new yam would be part and parcel of the special delicacy which encourage and promote what their forefathers left behind.

 

 

We invite friends and well-wishers to come together and rejoice with our people that new yam has just been presented before our people for consumption, we have other foodstuffs but our forefathers regarded the yam festival as the most vital of all.

 

Castro’s said Nigeria is a country with rich culture but employs federal and state governments to harness it through tourism as a source of income generation to the nation.
