The Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo has held peace meeting with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Barkin-Ladi Chapter Plateau State following the recent cattle rustling reports within the district by the Association.
In a press statement signed by the Media officer, Major Ibrahim Shittu in Jos said, the meeting which was held at the Headquarters of Sector 4 Barkin-Ladi had in attendance the key leaders of the Association within the district led by its Chairman.
In his address, Commander OPSH said that the meeting became imperative to appease the association and to discuss the way forwards, urging them to remain calm and avoid taking law into their hands.
Major General Okonkwo further noted that appreciable progress has been made in recovering some of the rustled cattle, while steps to recover the remaining ones are being strategized. “State government is aware of your predicament and efforts are being made to address it” – he added.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the Chairman MACBAN Barkin-Ladi, Alhaji Shuaibu Bayero thanked the Commander OPSH for his efforts towards bringing lasting peace to Plateau State since assuming office.
He therefore appealed to him to facilitate the recovery of the remaining ones as soon as possible, noting that their livelihoods depend on them.
Bayero further stressed that his members and youths have been cautioned to eschew any form of violence or attacks by way of addressing their grievances.
