Open Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari
The Nigeria Community in Ukraine was among the first in the diaspora to support the APC change mantra. Though, we are faced with intimidation and oppression by the then PDP government. Our zeal and determination to ensure a better Nigeria for us all and the unborn children kept us going throughout the period of impunity. It’s of public knowledge that the then Chairman Nigeria Community in Ukraine was declared wanted by the embassy and thereby making Comrade Ahmed Omeiza Lukman go into hiding till after the results of the elections were declared. Several attempts were also made on Comrade Ahmed Omeiza Lukman’s life after the release of a publication endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari against the embassy favoured candidate of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Sir, we are of the opinion that the Nigeria next ambassador to Ukraine must be appointed from Nigerians here in Ukraine. We must put an end to this idea of compensating politicians with ambassadorial position. We need those who have sound knowledge of the environment, people who knows the pains faced by Nigerians in diaspora and above all those who can make the relationship a mutual benefit for the two countries. We can afford to let political job seekers make Nigerians slaves in the hands of their host countries. The like of Comrade Ahmed Omeiza Lukman, Engr. Shadarch Omale and Dr. Muhammad Gusau are all good candidates who should be given due consideration during the process of appointing ambassadors, they have track records and had distinguished themselves here in Ukraine as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.
The Nigeria Community here in Ukraine would love to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to give us a chance to pilot the affair of our country, we believe if given the opportunity to serve our motherland, we will never disappoint the government and the people.
Sir, we also want to commend you for having the boldness in removing fuel subsidy. Nigeria cannot afford to be losing trillion of dollars annually on subsidy, the economy can not support such an evil policy of any government.
Finally, we will love to thank you for all you have achieved within the period of your one year in office.
Dr. Aliyu Muhammad.
Acting Chairman Nigeria Community In Ukraine.
