There is good news for those who are into fish farming in the country with the introduction of new improved Alpha + fish feed by Olam -Agric, a subsidiary of the largest rice farm in Africa, Olam Rice Farm, situated on Rukubi Community of Doma Local Government of Nasarawa State.
Facilitators during the training and flouting of the new improved feed, Alpha +, with a label “Slow sinking feed”.
He, however, maintained that Olam-Agric is the producer of Blue crown, Alpha flow, Eko flow, Aqualice, and Alpha +.
According to, Mr.Gideon. the State coordinator maintained that the new feed contains Omega 3 content and is a result-oriented feed with maximum output.
He said the aimed of introducing the feed gave birth to the upgrade of Alpha flow to Alpha +, He however averred that that the new feed also contains fish oil, Which reduces the wastage of feed.
Describing the Alpha + as a feed with uniformity which was in 25kg instead of the former 15kg bag, The facilitator also buttressed that Alpha + is risk free investment is in 4mm,6mm,5mm.
Gideon listed some of the features of Alpha+ ahead of the old stuff of feeds including blue crow, Eko flow, and above Alpha flow.
Mr Mannaseh , The State Chairman of Fish Farmers and Processors, he is also the Head of the Department of Fishery Department, Nasarawa State College of Agriculture, Science And Technology, Lafia.
Mannaseh in a remark thanked Olam-Agric for having the people at heart.
Saying the introduction of the new fish feed is timely, He in addition stated that the new improved fish feed is stable and can stay for more than 30 minutes before dissolving.
Gideon, The Nasarawa State Coordinator appealed to fish farmers to accord impetus to record keeping at all times.
Saying record keeping serves as a guide to every successful fish farmer, especially during this period of hardship.
He also urged fish farmers to ensure regular changing of water to reduce and address the mortality rate.
He however advised fish farmers to abide by the right practices through proper stocking of fish
Fish farmers during an interactive session asked patient questions on why there is sudden change in water colour especially when using Blue Crow feed.
Daniel D Danjuma also asked questions on what makes Alpha + fish feed more important and reliable than the other feeds like Aqualice which he said he experienced high mortality rate in his farm.
The facilitator disclosed that customers should always inform their dealers of any sly changes in operation especially mortality rate or such to Olam-Agric.
“Our quality Control System are on ground to attain to customers with a complaint”.
Mr. Emmanuel Abiola, The Regional Manager said the company is mindful of the brands of feeds introduced into Nigeria markets.
“Olam-Agric are the producers of Aqualice, Alpha flow, Blue crown, Eko flow, and the new improved Alpha +.
“Olam-Agric as the producers of Alpha + and other fish feeds verged into the production of Alpha + to reduce water pollution, and reduce cost of production.
Juliana Mathew Kuju also asked a pertinent question on why blue crowns break and sometimes have powdery substances.
Oyishoma Joshua, a member of the Fish Farmers and Processors Association complained about the resizing of 15kg fish feed, especially the Eko flow.
“I experienced this twice, at times I used to experience a reduction of one to one and a half kg of feeds mostly from Eko flow or blue crow”.
Also Bamibido, a fish farmer appealed to the company to establish a fish feed depot in Lafia , The State capital.
