Okada Operating On Restricted Areas In  Owerri Metropolis To Face Enforcement, Says Transport Commissioner

The Government of Imo State has directed the Ministry of Transport to enforce compliance of all commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as Okada from operating in the restricted areas of Owerri capital city.

Consequently, the Ministry of Transport through the Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA) shall on Tuesday 26th April, 2022 begin to impound any motorcyclist found operating on any of the restricted areas particularly the New Owerri, Douglas road, Emmanuel College roundabouts, Okigwe road, Orji axis and Orlu road.

Please note that all  apprehended violators will be subjected to prosecution by the Mobile Court attached to Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA).

Also note that the Ministry of Transport had before now and through the leadership of Motorcyclysts Association (Okada) in Imo State, designated and communicated the prohibited areas to the knowledge of all commercial motorcyclists in the State.
