As the 2019 general elections in Nigeria draw closer, the entire of people of Oguta LGA of Imo State has been charged to ensure that the most credible candidates are supported and elected to rule or to govern, most especially for the governorship position.
That was made known to them last Wed.Dec.26th 2018 at Oguta during a Town Hall Meeting Organised by some of the respected sons and daughters of the area at the premise of Oguta Civic Centre, where almost all the community leaders, elder-statesmen, critical stakeholders and decisions makers in the area where all in attendance.
The Town Hall Meeting was very successful with the theme:” Oguta-the way forward in a New Dispensation”.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the Conveners, Barr. Francis Uzoma Unyimadu,(Solicitor with the Supreme Court of Nigeria), expressed delight and thanked the entire people of Oguta from trooping out en masse to hear the message of hope, peace, and unity of purpose.
The legal luminary, Unyimadu, said that the meeting is aimed at sensitizing the Oguta people (the electorates) on the importance and benefits of voting/supporting the most credible person as the Imo State Governor, come 2019, irrespective of his/her political affiliation.
He described the meeting as a non-political gathering, rather it is to be aware of why the people of Oguta should vote right persons.
The Solicitor noted that Ndi- Oguta stands to benefit positively if they troop out en masse to vote for the most transparent people for various political positions.
In his quotes, “woe betide the man who seats back to allow others to decide his faith at the polling booths”.
“We want people to go and obtain their PVC’s which he described as their only electoral power to vote out bad leadership and vote into power good leaders”, he enjoined.
He advised the electorates from Oguta in particular and Imolites, in general, to vote for individuals and not political parties with the best manifestos and ideologies.
“The simplest way to send a message that enough is enough to visionless parties and political merchants that keep throwing up and foisting the wrong choices on us is to vote for change by going outside your party to vote individual capable and competent candidates in whatever party they are running with”, he added.
“The most important is that you vote en masse for those candidates you trusted and believed that can deliver.
a candidate who you know can serve and protect your interest”, he warned.
The solicitor disclosed that seats are spoiled for choice this upcoming election, with candidates from the PDP, APGA, SNP, ACD, APC, AA, ADC, SDP etc.
He asked that if the candidates in your political party do not what your political appetite, what else can you do but go outside your party to shop for the best?
He appealed to Ndi-Oguta to open and shine your eyes and make the right electoral choices.
“Don’t be blinded by loyalty to political parties even as he acknowledged that political parties are essential to the advancement of democracy and healthy political development focused competition”, he stated.

Imo PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate for 2019 polls, who is native of Oguta, extolled the organizers of the Town Hall Meeting for Oguta people.
He said “my selection as the Running Mate to the Imo PDP Governorship Candidate, Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha would wipe away tears from the eyes of Oguta people if elected into power in 2019”.
Mrs.Yuvonne Afulenu Kogolo, made the closing remark even as she encouraged the people of Oguta to vote their own sons and daughters who are contesting for various positions in the next year’s elections.
