Yekini who was a night guard at Dalemo Shopping Complex/Plaza,Ojuore Junction,Otta,Ogun State, was arrested in a kidnapping style of arrest over trump- up allegation of being a night guard at the complex and for not being a vigilante member.

Yekini was arrested by the men of Nigeria Police Force(NPF) attached to Zone 2 annex squad, along Sango/Abeokuta Express way,Obada-Oko,Ogun State in his residence located at Ago-ilogbo Compound,Oruba area,Ogun State.

CHRSJ also alleged the Police of demanding sum of#250,000 for the bail of Wasiu Yekini, adding that one Police officer in Mufti approached Yekini’s wife, Mrs Alimotu with phone number-08149110451, to go and look for money to secure the bail of her husband.

The group further alleged that the Mufti Police Officer threatened Yekini’s wife to get the money or they made her husband to travel by killing him extra judicially.

Speaking on the development, through a signed statement by CHRSJ’s Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman and copies were made available to newsmen on Monday.

Investigation revealed that two members of the Vigilante group in the area,Apasco popularly known as Obasanjo with Phone number-08077905237 and Azeez with Phone number-09094235046 have been the agents- in-crime with the  few Police of the annex like those that arrested Yekini illegally.

The aforementioned vigilante members have been beefing Yekini on the place he was working because they thought members of their vigilante group should be the night guard of the Complex/Plaza and that was the reason why they reported Yekini to their Police agents which lead to his (Yekini) illegal arrest and current travail.

The group recalled that Akeem Adetogun was illegally arrested by the Police attached to the annex on 15th of July,2017 but he was released after the intervention of leadership of CHRSJ and Supol Gbenga with Phone number-08056680115 on 20th of July,2017.

According to CHRSJ; “it is highly regrettable that our security personnel have anbandoned professionalism by allowing illegality and act of criminality with corruption be the order of the day in their line of duty.

Sulaiman therefore called on the Police authority to conduct unbiased and credible investigation into the matter by ordering Yekini to be released on bail or charge to the court of competent jurisdiction.
