There is an adage that says a golden fish has no hidden place, this explains the endless free Medicare of the former member representing Awe/ Doma/ Keana at the federal House of representatives under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party which started way back from 2003-2015 when he served as the speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly to his days at the national assembly.
The decision of giving back to society started through the collaborative effort with Sandaji medical centre where a large chunk amount of money was invested for the sake of humanity especially the people of Doma North constituency.
The gesture is highly appreciated and worthy of emulation from left, right and center as no fewer than seven hundred patients undergo different types of free surgical operations ranging from cataracts, glaucoma, and other surgeries.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo to expand the exercise has signed a deal with a hospital in Shabu, the headquarter of Lafia North Development Area, the free Medicare has been in existence for a long period rendering meritorious service to the people of his constituency.
Constituents from the constituency to a large extent benefit from all sorts of treatments, bringing the number of beneficiaries to over seven hundred beneficiaries across Awe/Doma/Keana Local Governments.
For the years under review the free Medicare of Ogoshi Onawo was extended to eye treatment is being carried on by an eye expert from Houston, Texas, People with eye defects like glaucoma, cataract and others were given due attention while others benefited from eyeglasses from Awe/Doma/ Keana respectively.
Another concerted effort in the health sector is the building of residential apartments for resident doctors at Doma General Hospital with the sole aim of curbing the absence of accommodation provided by the state Government, this giant stride encourages doctors to stay within the vicinity of the General Hospital.
The absence of accommodation within the hospital has affected the level of patronage over the years and if not the construction of the present abode sharing boundary with the hospital, Doma General hospital that serves as a referral centre for neighboring communities of Rukubi, Agbashi, Al-waza ,Burum-burum, Ediya, Igbabo, to mention but few other surrounding villages.
The frantic measure of Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has to a greater measure boost the morale of health workers within the General hospital, the construction of doctors’ quarters was meant to ameliorate the suffering faced by the people of Doma.
The initiative is in the right direction while considering the frantic measure taken to address maternal mortality and child morbidity of some of the beneficiaries.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Nasarawa South senatorial zone of the state, a zone that comprises of. Lafia, Obi, Keana, Awe, and Doma Local Government respectively.
